While the colors may have passed their peak in the north, the southern part of Colorado’s western slope is the best place to see beautiful fall colors before winter weather rolls in to stay.
(COLO) – Traffic deaths surged across Colorado in 2021 hitting a 20-year high with conscious choices to drive distracted, drive under the influence and drive aggressively resulting in fatal behaviors on our roads. One identified way that each of these choices can affect a motorist’s behavior is through their inability to stay safely centered in their driving lane.

(COLORADO) – September is a transition month for Colorado as we move from the summer heat to autumn colors. For the Colorado State Patrol, it’s also the month when we begin looking for Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) to carry chains when driving on I-70 in the mountains as required by state law. It’s not uncommon for the mountains to see snow this time of year, so the Colorado State Patrol Golden Troop Office has a plan in place to educate those drivers before it’s too late.

Yet, according to crash investigation statistics collected by Colorado State Patrol over a three-year period (2019 – 2021) the most dangerous holiday on our roads for injury and fatal car crashes caused by intoxicated drivers was Labor Day.
(COLO) – Since the *CSP (*277) program was implemented in July 1998, Colorado motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians have reported thousands of “real-time” suspected impaired drivers. Just this year from January through July 31, the Colorado State Patrol Communication Centers have answered over 14,370 calls.
