Press Release

Colorado State Patrol Wants Your Opinion

(COLORADO) – The Colorado State Patrol needs your help to make us a better law enforcement agency by asking one simple question.  How are we doing?

Beginning October 3 through October 31, 2022, the Colorado State Patrol will open a Public Opinion Survey. We value your opinion and candid feedback to ensure we are being responsive to your needs and providing the best lifesaving services possible.

After the Crash

(COLO) – Traffic deaths surged across Colorado in 2021 hitting a 20-year high and many of those incidents turned into crime scenes. Colorado is only one of four states in the country, which has an established unit, specific to serving victims of traffic crimes.

Chain Law Season is Here for Colorado

(COLORADO) – September is a transition month for Colorado as we move from the summer heat to autumn colors. For the Colorado State Patrol, it’s also the month when we begin looking for Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) to carry chains when driving on I-70 in the mountains as required by state law. It’s not uncommon for the mountains to see snow this time of year, so the Colorado State Patrol Golden Troop Office has a plan in place to educate those drivers before it’s too late.

Watch for Changing Conditions When Super Cruising in CO

(Colorado) – For those trying to squeeze in a few more trips to the mountains for outdoor fun or for an annual hunting trip, the Colorado State Patrol reminds those traveling to the Colorado high country the weather can change quickly in the mountains during any time of year and includes conditions like strong winds, heavy rains and snowfall. There have been 35 fatal crashes in southwest Colorado this year. Be prepared by knowing how to properly tow and checking the weather conditions.

Colorado’s Most Dangerous Holiday Due to Impaired Drivers Just Might Surprise You

(COLO) – Some holidays, like New Year’s Eve, may seem synonymous with partying and consuming impairing substances. Yet, according to crash investigation statistics collected by Colorado State Patrol over a three-year period (2019 – 2021) the most dangerous holiday on our roads for injury and fatal car crashes caused by intoxicated drivers was Labor Day.

Cast Your Vote Colorado - 9th Annual "Best Looking Cruiser" Contest

COLORADO -  The Colorado State Patrol has always taken pride in the vehicles they use to ensure safety, and now they are asking for help in showing them off across the country. Each year the American Association of State Troopers (AAST), holds the "Best Looking Cruiser" contest, setting the stage for a friendly competition between the 50 state police agencies to see who will land on a calendar for the following year. Voting began yesterday August 8, 2022, and goes through Thursday, August 25, 2022, at 3 PM.
