Stuck in Reverse: Dangerous Driving Behaviors Continue to Rise

(COLO) – In 2021 the alarm bells sounded when Colorado hit a 20-year high in traffic fatalities with 672 deaths. Yet the crash fatality picture has not improved for the State in 2022. According to the Colorado Department of Transportation this past weekend Colorado hit 700 deaths and troopers know this number will continue to grow until motorists change their risky behaviors.

Super Cruising in Snow and Ice

(Colorado) – If the winter wonderland of the Rocky Mountains is calling your name – whether its time to hit the ski slopes, take your snowmobile out for a ride or just seek a quiet space surrounded by the beauty of the season - it’s important to remember the dangers of navigating the region’s snow packed and icy roadways.

Colorado State Patrol Graduates 11 New Port of Entry Officers

Are You Too Tired to Drive?

(COLO) – Whether impacted by insomnia, a disrupted sleep schedule or even the end of Daylight Savings, not getting enough sleep before driving is a dangerous idea. According to the National Safety Council, drowsy driving is similar to driving under the influence of alcohol and can make drivers three times more likely to be in a car crash if they are fatigued.

Stay Centered….No Matter What Your Age

(COLO) – Staying centered is good at any age and it turns out this also holds true for staying centered in your driving lane. Looking at crashes investigated by troopers, the Colorado State Patrol examined the top crash causal factors over a three-year period (2019-2021). Data revealed that no matter what age group the driver was in, all generations within driving age had one thing in common, lane violations were either the first or second most common causal factors for fatal crashes.
