(COLO) – As Homecoming season approaches, teens may be worried about finding a date or what to wear, but parents often get worried about dangerous choices kids naturally face on a night of group fun, including the decision to drive impaired.
(Colorado) – It’s that time of year for pumpkin patches and a drive through the Colorado Rockies to check out the changing of the season; oh, it is also rutting (aka mating) season for elk. The western slope of Colorado regularly sees a steady volume of in-state and out-of-state visitors throughout the autumn ‘shoulder season.’ Recreationists may not always be familiar with the region’s roadways, towing in mountain conditions, or wildlife.
(COLO) – October is National Pedestrian Safety Month, and the Colorado State Patrol wants motorists and pedestrians to do their part as they share the road.
(COLO) – Drivers weaving in and out of traffic, vehicles entering the highway the wrong way and motorists not maintaining a centered lane position contribute to a concerning lane violation problem that can cause serious injury and fatal crashes. Over the last four years (2019-2022), Colorado State Troopers have investigated 635 lane violation crashes across Colorado.

After earning a driver’s license, it can be natural to relax a little behind the wheel, yet one of the most critical phases is beginning. This is when a person begins to increase the frequency of driving, traveling new routes, and as a result, encountering more road hazards, including changing weather.
(COLORADO) – The Colorado State Patrol is proud to announce a partnership with the Georgetown University Law Center for Innovations in Community Safety (CICS) to implement the Active Bystandership for Law Enforcement (ABLE) project. The Colorado State Patrol began training sworn members on May 23, 2023, and will have 100% of sworn members trained by the end of September 2023.
(Colorado) – With only a few weeks left of riding weather, a trip to Colorado’s Western Slope may be on your list. Fall is an incredible time to get out on your bike to experience the beauty of changing seasons. In 2022, Colorado State troopers investigated 168 injury and fatal crashes involving a motorcycle on just the state’s western slope. In addition to lack of experience riding, two other significant contributing factors were found in fatal motorcycle crashes around the state: speed and impairment.
(GOLDEN, COLO.) – Virtual Reality goggles and body-worn sensors are helping cadets going through the Colorado State Patrol Academy take their skills to a new level. Colorado State Patrol launched an immersive virtual reality training tool called “Apex Officer” in May 2022, with two cadet classes now having experienced this advanced technology training.
(COLO) – We may not want to admit it, but most drivers will cut someone off at some point in their driving history. The opposite is also true; we will experience another motorist making an unsafe lane change into our path. If you are fortunate to avoid an immediate crash, do you keep your cool to avoid a secondary one?
