ADAMS COUNTY – A Colorado State Patrol Trooper narrowly missed being critically injured or killed on a traffic stop after a second vehicle crashed into the car he had stopped. On February 15, 2022, at approximately 11:34 AM, CSP Master Trooper Travis Hood stopped a 2010 Kia sedan on northbound Interstate 25 near 58^th Ave. for a speeding violation. The vehicle pulled over onto the large shoulder to the left of the HOV lane. Master Trooper Hood made contact and returned to his motorcycle to write a citation.

(COLO) – Donations of blood see a sharp decline during winter months and the COVID-19 pandemic has complicated things further, canceling many blood donation events across our state and the nation. Whether an ongoing health condition, like cancer, or the need for a blood transfusion following a traumatic injury, the need for donations is much greater now as our nation is experiencing the worst blood shortage in more than a decade! 

(COLO) – Lifelong habits begin early and this is why the Colorado State Patrol is urging parents to become familiar with Colorado’s Child Restraint and Graduated Drivers Licensing law regarding seat belts.

“It is a primary offense for children under 16 to be without a seatbelt or improperly restrained in a vehicle,” explains Trooper Tim Sutherland, Colorado Child Passenger Safety Program Coordinator. “This means you can be pulled over without committing any other traffic infraction because the bottom line is kids are relying on you!” 

(HARRISBURG, Pa. and COLORADO) — The Emergency Responder Safety Institute (ERSI) congratulates the Colorado State Patrol (CSP) on becoming the first law enforcement agency to have all active duty Peace Officer Standard Training (POST) certified officers earn the National Traffic Incident Management Training Certificate from the Responder Safety Learning Network (RSLN.org). All 670 active duty CSP law enforcement officers, from the newest troopers up to the Chief of the CSP, completed the National TIM Training Certificate on RSLN.org in 2021.

(COLO.) – Many Coloradan’s started their Christmas morning off with family and friends opening gifts., including Karly Means, 26, of Centennial, who has a rare genetic condition called Williams Syndrome. As Karly unwrapped and opened a box prepared by her parents, she didn’t know that gift’s value could never be fit in a box. As she pulled out a piece of paper, she became visibly emotional and filled with joy and excitement. The gift to Karly was an invitation to visit the Colorado State Patrol Training Academy.

(COLO) – If you’ve ever said “It’s uncomfortable”, “I’m only going a few blocks”, or “I’m a safe driver” when not wearing a seat belt, the Colorado State Patrol wants to have a heart to heart. Colorado drivers are below the national average when using seat belts, and you are part of the problem.

(COLO) – With more snow arriving across the State, the Colorado State Patrol is reminding all motorists, both commercial and passenger vehicle drivers, to be prepared with the right equipment for the weather. During storms, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will implement traction laws when conditions require.
