Colorado uses an automated vehicle identification clearance system designed to make clearing the state's ports more convenient. When your vehicle is weighed at one of Colorado's facilities a port officer will attempt to obtain the vehicle specific information by inserting the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) into the automated system as the truck is being weighed.
When the vehicle's information is accessible and vehicle has been weighed with no weight or safety concerns, the driver will be allowed to proceed. When the vehicle's information is not accessible, the driver will be required to weigh, park, and present all valid paperwork to the port officer.
Option 1: Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
Option 2: Alpha Identifier
