Section 1122 of the National Defense Authorization Act of 1994, now 10 U.S.C. 281, authorizes state and local agencies to purchase equipment and supplies in support of counter-drug activities through the Federal Government. Agencies can now take advantage of the unequaled volume buying power of the Federal Government at the lowest prices on the market.
Under Section 1033 of the National Defense Authorization Act of 1997, now 10 U.S.C. 2576a,the Secretary of Defense may transfer to State and Local Agencies property determined suitable for law enforcement activities from the Department of Defense.
